Former Philippine Azkals team captain, Phil Younghusband today announced his retirement from professional football.
“Hanging up my boots!” Younghusband wrote on Instagram.
“Thank you to my bosses, my coaches, teammates, competitors, and all the supporters who have been part of my journey,” he said.
Younghusband started his career with Chelsea FC in 2005.
He later on moved to the Philippines and continued playing football in the country.
The former Azkals team captain also joined Loyola Meralco Spark and the Davao Aguilas until 2018.
Younghusband together with his brother James have boosted the interest in the football game in the country .
He has a record of 52 goals and 108 appearances, according to a report by ESPN 5.
