As Valentine’s Day approaches, a Philippine senator has given a hint for many couples to think twice before splurging their hard-earned money.
Senator Imee Marcos, in a short interview with the media, said that it might be more practical to purchase daily needs like rice instead of flowers that will only be appreciated on Valentine’s day, especially since prices of the latter have surged this season.
“Saksakan ng mahal ng mga bulaklak kahit Valentine’s. Kung Php2,000 rin lang ang gagastusin sa bouquet, mas okay ba bumili na lang ng isang sakong bigas?,” said Marcos.

The senator was quick to state that it was an advice from the elderly and simply wished the public to enjoy their Valentine’s Day safely.
She also reminded the public to avoid physical contact as a preventive measure in the midst of the spread of COVID-19.

“Happy Valentine’s po! Kiss-kiss na lang, air kiss – bawal na daw ang shake hands or beso-beso,” said the senator.
