Dubai’s police arrested three Asian beggars on charges of assaulting a government department employee who asked them to stop begging.
The man was returning home when he saw three stopping people in the road and begging for money in Nayef area.
The man told police that he already knew the three as they were arrested in connection of criminal cases before.
He said that when he asked them to stop begging and leave the area; they surrounded him and tried to strangle him.
They then swore at and threatened they would beat him if he interferes in their business again, local newspapers said.
As the man left them alone and went away, he saw a police patrol in the area, the report said, adding that he told the cops about the beggars.
The police arrested one as the two others fled, but they were later captured.
