‘Umuwi ka na ma:’ Student grad photo dedicating to OFW mom goes viral

A Tourism graduate student posted in her social media her special message to her mom who works as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

The photo received thousands of reactions and comments from OFWs and shared how they struggle abroad and they are thankful if their efforts are appreciated.

Minerva Borca shared her message to her mother saying “Ma, uwi ka na sa ‘Pinas, ako naman magtatrabaho,”.

In her post, Borca recalled how Maria Fe, her mother, perseveres in abroad despite the difficulty and being away from them.

“Sobrang nakakapagod dito, wala pa’kong kain nagkape lang ako,” she recalled her conversation with her mother.

“Mabuti pa ‘yung sahod buwan-buwan umuuwi ng ‘Pinas,” her mother added.

Maria Fe has been working as domestic helper since 2012. Minerva said that her mother was her inspiration to persevere and finish her college degree.

She said she was determined to graduate so she could help her siblings and for her mom to return home from Oman for good.
