Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol has tendered his resignation from the Duterte Cabinet, Senator-elect Bong Go revealed Thursday.
Piñol has reportedly been placed under the microscope of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. According to reports, this came after Piñol’s supposed failure to address the rice shortage problem and his response to the 22 fishermen involved in the Recto Bank incident.
“Narinig niya na rin kasi ang ginagawang review ng Pangulo sa kanyang gabinete kaya siya naghain ng courtesy resignation,” Go said.
Go added that some cabinet members aren’t happy with Piñol’s performance during the rice crisis last year.
“Nagrekomenda na po siya ng tatlong undersecretaries na pansamantalang mamumuno DA,” Go revealed.
When asked if the President still trusts Piñol, the senator said it could still be possible.
“If i-appoint siya ng Pangulo sa Mindanao Development Authority, then may tiwala pa sa kanya. Malaki rin maitutulong ni Secretary Piñol sa Bangsamoro Automomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM),” he said.
He had it coming anyway.
