World-famous Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco has urged fellow designers to not lose hope and keep on giving people something to dream about amid the current crisis brought about by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
In his Facebook post, The Filipino Times Awards 2015 Rizal Awardee and Fashion Designer of the Year said that while fashion is one of the businesses that have become most vulnerable to the disruption caused by the disease, the industry must rely on hope in order to thrive in a world that is constantly changing.
“The world may be in turmoil because of the current pandemic. But fashion lives on. It may be in a hiatus at the moment , but it can only be fleeting, as it slowly but surely regains its balance,” he said.
Cinco said that it is important for designers and artists like them to inspire people. He stressed that in uncertain times like this, fashion keeps the world dreaming—hoping that the day will come when the lives we used to have prior to the crisis become a reality again.
“The future is not bleak. It’s really important to give people something to dream about. Everyone needs to still feel a sense of belonging and community, and the light that only fashion can bring to so many people. Have FAITH, in God’s perfect time we shall overcome this crisis and be better versions of ourselves,” said Cinco.
