Independent candidate Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has geared up for presidential polls after his resignation from the Partido Reporma party.
He said he has waged a lonely fight against a corrupt system for the past 50 years and posted on Twitter, ” Once a warrior, always a warrior.”
As chief of the Philippine National Police from 1999 to 2001, Lacson was strict against bribe and in the Senate he returned to the national treasury his share of the Priority Development Assistance Fund or pork barrel on the contention that it was a source of corruption.

On Thursday, Lacson resigned from Partido Reporma after some of its officials endorsed another candidate and he alleged that not able to provide P 800 million campaign expenses was the reason he was dropped.
“PHP800M can build 1,066 detached housing units with a floor area of 24 square meters on a 40 sqm (square meters) lot based on 2019 estimates,” Lacson tweeted.
On Saturday, leaders and members of Partido Reporma in Bohol province also tendered their resignations to support Lacson and running mate, Senate president Vicente Sotto III, media reports said.
