Sim registration bill now up for Duterte’s signature

Senator Win Gatchalian, who is the author of the bill mandating registration for sim cards says that it is now in Malacanang and up for the signature of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Lagda nalang po ng Pangulo ang inaantay. Ang lahat ng SIM cards, dapat ipa-rehistro na,” Gatchalian said.

The lawmaker said that the measure will prevent people from using smartphones to harass and bully others, or commit fraud. Gatchalian adds that cellphones are also sometimes being used as bomb detonators.
