Filipinos can get access to medical emergencies, other benefits with new national ID

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has said that Filipinos can access medical emergencies on a national ID.

The Philippines is now at par with countries in adopting a national identification system and in a recent post the PSA said on Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registered Filipinos can now access assistance during medical emergencies.

Authorities affirm that the new national ID, otherwise known as the Philippine Identification (PhilID), allows easy tracking of medical records and health information.

The PSA said the national ID can also be “used for better targeting for social and health services” and it will also benefit in acquisition of education while the paperless transactions or the start of the digital generation will also progress under PhilSys.

On December 11, over 50,014,382 Filipinos completed the PhilSys registration process.

The Philippine Postal Corporation will deliver all physical cards free of charge while the national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a “means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.”

Efficiencies will also be boosted especially in dealing with government agencies where people will only need to present one ID during transactions.
