BREAKING: Senator Bong Go files candidacy for Vice President, Duterte withdraws VP bid

In what was described as a surprise move from the ruling PDP-Laban, Senator Bong Go has filed his candidacy for Vice President, saying that President Rodrigo Duterte has withdrawn from his nomination.

He filed his COC at the Sofitel Harbor Tent in Pasay City on Saturday, October 2.

“Given that President Duterte decided to withdraw his acceptance of nomination, I am here to take on the challenge as the PDP’s vice presidential candidate,” Go said in a speech.

Go said that he will continue the programs of Duterte including fighting against illegal drugs, eradicating poverty and accessible healthcare for Filipinos.

“Walang tigil ang kampanya natin laban droga, korapsyon at kriminalidad,” he said.

The former presidential aide ran in 2019 as senator.

He initially declined the proposal for him to run with Duterte. (TDT)
