President Rodrigo Duterte will put forth the position of the Philippines on key issues including universal access to COVID-19 vaccines, climate change, human rights as well as the situation of migrant workers and refugees at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session.
Duterte will also talk about the international and regional security developments at the UNGA session from September 21 to 27.

Malacañang said in a statement that Philippines President will also speak on the first day of the high-level general debate on September 21.
The UNGA is the main body of the UN where all the 193 member states are represented. The debate at the international forum will be presided over by H.E. Abdulla Shahid of Maldives, the incoming president of the 76th UNGA.

Then it will be followed by a hybrid format of in-person and virtual attendance of delegates, in view of the evolving situation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (AW)
