DFA mounts another repatriation flight for 332 stranded OFWs in UAE 

THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is bringing home distressed and stranded Filipinos from Abu Dhabi, as part of the agency’s repatriation efforts.

Some 332 repatriates boarded PR 8625 on Monday. It is the first flight mounted by the DFA in its planned series of repatriation for the month of July. 

“This flight will bring home 332 distressed Filipinos. Among them are 22 children, 37 pregnant women, and 57 medical cases,” the DFA said in a statement.

On Sunday, the Labor Department has repatriated some 348 stranded OFWs from the UAE including 67 pregnant women and 30 OFWs with medical conditions. 

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Dubai reported to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello that the OFW repatriates left UAE on Saturday, July 10, and arrived Manila on Sunday morning via flight PR 8659 of the Philippine Airlines.

The chartered flight was paid for by OWWA, according to the statement. 

“Four more DOLE-OWWA repatriation flights are set on July 12, 17, 27 and 30,” DOLE said in a statement. 

The recent batch of repatriates includes 67 pregnant OFWs, 30 OFWs with medical cases, six OFW wards housed at the Bahay Kalinga in Dubai, and two OFW wards housed at the Bahay Kalinga in Abu Dhabi.

“The rest of the OFW passengers are those with cancelled flights or overstayers in UAE,” the statement added.
