Photos of the bizarre event went viral prompting India’s civil aviation authority to probe the incident and suspend the crew aboard the flight.
According to Hindustan Times, the couple tied the knot during a two-hour flight on a SpiceJet plane as it flew over the historic Meenakshi Amman temple on its way from Madurai to Bengaluru.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show-cause notice to SpiceJet asking for a detailed report on the incident.

“The agent and the guest passengers were briefed in detail, both in writing as well as verbally, on social distancing and safety norms to be followed as per COVID guidelines both at the airport and on board the aircraft throughout the journey,” SpiceJet spokesperson said.
“Despite repeated requests and reminders, the passengers did not follow COVID guidelines and the airline is taking appropriate action as per rules,” the official added. (RA)
