PH signs term sheet to secure 40 million Pfizer COVID-19 doses

The Philippines has signed a term sheet to secure 40 million doses of COVID-29 vaccines developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. announced on Friday.

“I would like to announce…that as of this day, I have already signed the head of terms or the term sheet for our procurement for Pfizer for 40 million [of its vaccines],” Galvez said at private sector’s Ingat Angat Bakuna Lahat campaign to support the national government’s vaccine rollout.

“Na-aprubahan po nila itong tinatawag natin na head of terms, nakapirma na po ang global ano po nila at ako po ngayon pati si Secretary Duque, we will sign it today,” he added.

The signing of the term sheet is the second to the last step in the process of negotiating the COVID-19 jabs.

The deal could be the Philippine government’s largest COVID-19 vaccine procurement.

The national government still need to sign a final supply agreement with Pfizer to expedite the actual purchase as well as a definite date of delivery.

Meanwhile, Galvez said the country will receive up to 2.2 million additional doses of Pfizer’s vaccine from COVAX facility this month.

Aside from Pfizer jabs, the Philippines is expecting another 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine and 1.3 million doses of Sputnik V vaccines from Russia.

The said vaccine supply will be allocated to areas with the highest attack rate including National Capital Region, Cavite, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Metro Cebu, and Metro Davao. (RA)
