(PNA) – Philippine National Police (PNP) officer in charge Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar on Wednesday said 1,837 out of 1,973 police medical front-liners who have registered for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccination have so far been inoculated.
Based on the latest data, Eleazar said only 33 personnel have so far experienced minor adverse reactions to the vaccines while 136 PNP members were not allowed for medical reasons.
However, he said that these reactions often quickly disappeared and posed no harm to the said police personnel.
Eleazar said 1,676 in Metro Manila and other police regional offices have been vaccinated with the Chinese-donated Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac vaccines while 161 were injected with the COVAX Facility-donated AstraZeneca jabs, of which an initial 700 doses were given to the PNP.
Meanwhile, the police force currently has 1,047 active Covid-19 cases as 167 new cases were logged as of Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, 41 patients and 1,006 patients are recuperating in hospitals and quarantine facilities, respectively, Eleazar noted.
Another 38 police officers were also reported to have recovered from the disease, bringing the PNP’s recovery tally to 11,429 or 91.4 percent of 12,510 Covid-19 cases in the police force. The death toll remains at 34.
