The Aviation department of Abu Dhabi Police (ADP) launched on Friday its new medical transportation system that places patients with infectious diseases including COVID-19 inside a capsule.
The isolation capsule, first-of-its-kind in the region, was designed to transport patients with infectious diseases by air ambulance.
It has a full medical isolation system that prevents transmission from a patient to the surrounding people whether family members or paramedics.
In a video post on its official Twitter account, Major Dr Ali Al Dhahouri, an aviation medicine specialist at ADP, said this initiative is in line with the precautionary measures by UAE to combat COVID-19.
“The capsule is a first of its kind in the region and in the country,” Major Al Dhahouri said.
