Saudi Arabia has ordered the companies from the private sector to give its employees who are either pregnant or sick two weeks’ worth of sick leave.
In a report by Saudi Press Agency, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has made it mandatory for these companies to grand the said benefit to expecting mothers as well as patients with respiratory, autoimmune and chronic diseases, or tumors. The rule also states that these two weeks must not be deducted from their leave balance.
The ministry has also advised companies to require their employees returning from other countries to self-quarantine for 14 days, and those who show symptoms of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) must be put under medical care immediately.
In addition, the Ministry of Interior has also suspended international flights for two weeks last March 15. The authorities said the decision is part of Saudi’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
