2018 The Filipino Times Healthcare Professional of the Year Dr. Aileen Villanueva has spearheaded her initiative, “Online consultation with Dr. Aileen” to help aid and guide her fellow expats to make informed decisions about their health and well being.
Filipinos and expats who need expert medical advice for their health especially during this time of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) can now gain access to a free online consultation.
Dr. Aileen, in her Facebook post, stated that since she will have spare time during her two-week break, she can provide guidance as she will respond to questions for those who seek medical help through Facebook.
“In our current situation of COVID-19 pandemic, many lost their jobs with the cancellation of their health insurances, there’s a fear of visiting clinics or hospitals, rather they will pause and think, “what if I get the virus?”. For these reasons, I came up with “on line consultation with Dr. Aileen”, and I know this action of mine will make a difference even just a little help from me, and it is not how much we do, but how much LOVE you put on whatever you do.” said Dr. Villanueva.
She hopes that the free online consultations she provides will help the public course through these difficult times as she reminds them that prevention is still better than the cure especially as she wishes to reach out for those who are on visit visa with no health insurances.
“There are so many ways to help out others. As a doctor I have a great responsibility for the health of the community,” said Dr. Villanueva.
