TFT Awards initiates surge of creative minds

The Filipino Times Awards, as a platform, has already made its mark as an award giving body that recognizes achievers and trailblazers.

One of the most recognizable effects that the award-giving body inspires is how Filipinos begin their steps on being in touch with their creativity – may that be in the field of visual arts, rhythm, filmmaking and more.

Emerging passion for filmmaking

For 2018 TFT Awards Filmmaker of the Year Melanie ‘Melon’ Perez, she notes that TFT Awards began a movement where more Filipinos now aspire to document their experiences or come up with their own content in video format to express themselves.

“The Filipino Times Awards has inspired all Filipinos to bring out their talent by recognizing artists, as represented by the sudden surge of emerging filmmakers,” said Perez.

As Perez focuses on managing her own studio – the MelRish Studio along with being a full-time mom, she was also recently recognized in the Philippines for her works in the field of filmmaking and is now collaborating with several entities on their CSR efforts: “This is something big for us as this is the CSR work we have dreamed of. Giving back to the community is our main goal.”

A moment in the limelight, a lifetime of recognition

Perez said that prior to the TFT Awards, she had always kept a low profile as she preferred to stay behind the camera. However with the recognition she’s been given, she thanks the award giving body for seeing beyond the sphere of influence on social and more on the honor that her work brings for the greater Filipino community.

“I have always kept a low profile and I didn’t want the limelight to myself. But The Filipino Times has proven that it doesn’t care how many followers you have or how influential you are in the community. TFT recognizes the people who have brought honor to the community and this is why I am thankful to receive the award of Film Maker of the Year,” shares Perez.

Perez also thanks people closest to her heart who have been instrumental for her to realize her dreams: “This award is something I have shared with my family and team as it would not have been possible without them. This award allowed me to inspire them to always give their best and pursue their passion.”
