Of lovebirds and LDRs: 20 OFW couples tie the knot

DUBAI: Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes solemnized a group of wedding of about 20 love birds, all of them overseas Filipino workers in the prime of their lives at late-20s, on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019.

Joining the couples were their relatives and friends who also acted as sponsors guaranteeing that none of those getting tying the knot has legal impediments like age qualification or is married back home.

The couples, all jubilant with the new chapter in their lives, vowed to love each other for better or for worse.

There were around five of those who exchange vows who have all the reason to be ecstatic, if you will: They all endured a period of long distance relationship, tough as it was and which tested their commitment to each other – typical MMK-style OFW love story.

There were light moments too, from none other than the consul general himself who, when asked that the couples bring out their rings, quipped that the official receipts from Gold Souk be brought out as well, exuding laughter from the crowd.
