WATCH: Wedding guests asked to recite ‘oath’ to avoid eat-and-run at reception

One of the common problems that Filipino couples have during weddings are guests who ask to leave immediately after they eat at the wedding reception.

Also known as the ‘eat-and-run’ tactic, many Filipinos seem to just wish to dine with the newly married couple instead of enjoying their moments as a short program ensues.

This was probably why Robert Neil Garces, an event host, created a unique and funny oath that has the guests promise to the newly-weds that they will indeed stay for the program after they finish their meals during one of the weddings that he hosted at Toledo City in Cebu.

“I, state your name, promise not to leave after eating, that I will join the couple in their celebration of their wedding until the program is done. So help me God,” said the entire wedding entourage in their seats as they promise to not leave the premises to enjoy the program.

Garces said that many of the guests did stay, and even mentioned that more people enjoyed as the night went on.

“Ang ending daghan pa kaayu nahabilin sa reception,”(More people stayed during the reception.) shared Garces on his Facebook post.
