Highlighting the Philippines’ rich culinary experience, the event coincides with the celebration of the Filipino Food Month this April, instituted by President Rodrigo Duterte through Presidential Proclamation no. 469 s. 2017.
Authentic Filipino dishes with a twist
Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes invites everyone, especially Filipinos, to come with their family and friends from all nationalities as this event will be the venue for all Pinoys to be proud of the cuisines that the Philippines has to offer. “Join us as we celebrate the cuisine of the Philippines through the Filipino Food Month, as proclaimed by Presidential Proclamation no. 469 by his excellency President Rodrigo Roa Duterte,” invites Cortes.
The Philippine Consul General adds that the festival will showcase the history and influences of various nationalities within the Filipino table that has been incorporated through centuries of Philippine food innovation: “This delectable journey of the South East Asian cuisine with a mixture of Malay, Chinese, Spanish, and American influence is something that we need to spread not only to the future generations of Filipinos, but to the multiethnic citizens of the United Arab Emirates.”
Celebrity Chef Michelle Adrillana said that the inspiration lies behind her experience in visiting the Middle East and how she incorporated authentic Philippine cuisine with such familiarity with the flavors for the local market. “I wanted to create something that’s not exotic but something that would give them a different experience, something to talk about, something pleasurable but still with the Filipino flavors intact,” said Adrillana.
The chef likewise adds that as a global Filipina chef travelling and discovering dishes around the world, her dishes define her cooking as she serves “the world on a plate” with each viand served on the buffet: “The food I serve is the world on a plate – all my travels, people I’ve met, my experiences, heartbreaks and everything else I can think of.”
