Having trouble paying fines? If you’re one of the drivers from Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) who still needs to pay a hefty fine, the department of public works in Ras Al Khaimah has recently announced a 30% discount for all environmental violations recorded as the world celebrates the International Day of Happiness.
In line with the Year of Tolerance, the two-day discount will take place this weekend, from March 21-22, according to Ahmad Al Shehi, an advisor to the department as per a report from Khaleej Times.
“However, this discount is not applicable to heavy truck drivers nabbed while escaping from the truck weigh stations,” said Al Shehi who adds that the discount is only applicable for all violations done before the launch of the initiative.
Al Shehi adds that most of the offenders did the deed at RAK’s most scenic sites: “These scenic sites, mainly at Jebel Jais, public beaches, and along the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed road, attract a lot of people from all over the country.
“Illegal and anti-environment practices need to be immediately reported to the department hot free line (8008118) or via the smart app ‘Kolona Rakib’ – ‘We All Monitor’, to preserve RAK’s beautiful image,” adds Al Shehi as he urges the public to follow the traffic laws of the country.
