Hundreds of Filipinos banded together at St. Joseph’s Cathedral for the celebration of the annual Sinulog last January 18.
The colourful festivity that honours the Sto. Nino saw Filipino families bring their Sto. Ninos from their homes to the parade as they danced to the rhythm of the lively beats together with different groups.
Five community groups had a special presentation following the culmination of the Holy Mass. Special numbers from the United Cebuanos – Dubai chapter, Legion of Mary, the Friends of Divine Mercy, the Couples for Christ Ministry, and the United Cebuanos – Abu Dhabi chapter filled the church grounds with cheers, laughter and excitement with their exhilarating performances which culminated with the entire community dancing to the iconic song “I Love Cebu”.
Sinulog, otherwise known as the festival of Sto. Nino, is an annual event celebrated in the Philippines during the 3rd Sunday of January in Cebu City, which attracts more millions of Filipinos as well as tourists from all over the globe.
