Engineers at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) have unveiled to the public the first official photo taken by the KhalifaSat, the first-ever UAE-made satellite which recently launched off to space.
On Monday, November 5, MBRSC has uploaded a photo of the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai which was taken by the KhalifaSat.

According to MBRSC, the image was taken by the KhalifaSat at exactly 1:32 PM on October 31, 2018.
This photo signals the beginning of the satellite’s five-year Earth imaging journey in the outer space.

Images provided by KhalifaSat will be used in urban planning and management as well as monitoring environmental changes such as oil spills, land contamination, and water quality.
The team processed the image and presented it to the His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of MBRSC, on Saturday.
KhalifaSat has successfully lifted off into space from Tanegashima Space Centre in Japan on October 29.
