Dubai has come a long way in recent years from being a vast sandy desert to being a luxurious and modern city that now serves as a home to nearly three million people.
But while you walk the streets of Dubai and admire the modern environment around you, have you ever wondered how it all started?
A local photographer recently shared photos on Twitter showing what Dubai was like two decades ago.
The photos look different from the famed city today which is known for its expanding skyline.
