Life after the limelight: What happened to these stars?

Priscilla Almeda

face 1

Priscilla’s eventful career started in the late ‘80s when she was introduced as Abby Viduya, the wholesome love interest of ‘Gwapings’. Later on, she dropped this name to become a bold star under Seiko Films, as Priscilla Almeda. Titillating movies like ‘Sutla’, ‘Sabik’, and ‘Syota ng Bayan’ catapulted her to stardom.

But the life she leads now is far from her former roles on the big screen. Priscilla is happily engaged to a man named Boying, and is a loving mother of three young girls—one of whom is from a previous tumultuous marriage. The family lives in Red Deer Alberta, Canada. She also grew up in the same country, raised by adoptive parents in Vancouver.

Before moving to Canada, Priscilla used to work as a low-profile waitress in Ichichara, Japan.

Paco Arespacochaga

Paco is an award-winning singer, songwriter and drummer for the ‘90s rock band, Introvoys. His name also rings a bell due to a stormy marriage that ended in annulment with singer-actress Geneva Cruz, with whom he shares a son.
He may have disappeared from Philippine showbiz but he still hasn’t turned his back on music. His band, Introvoys, is still intact and does concert tours in various cities in North America. In fact, they are playing live in Las Vegas, on June 30!

Paco, together with band mates Jonathan Buencamino, JD Dela Paz, Jj Buencamino and Vic Carpio, is still cashing in on a well-maintained fan base from Introvoys’ iconic ‘90s OPM reign. On his website, http://www.pacoarespacochaga.com, he is promoting limited edition INTRoVOYS Classic Logo shirts; while on www.introvoys.com, the band’s “Where We Left Off” CD is up for orders worldwide. They also maintain a subscription-based website that provides their fans behind-the-scenes access to their birthday parties, photos and catalogues for $60 per year. The group is wise with their finances too, saving revenues in a mutual retirement fund that they plan to enjoy in ten years. On occasion, Paco comes to the Philippines for onstage guestings, such as a duet with Tony Gonzaga on ABS-CBN’s ASAP last March.

But Paco doesn’t just mean business; he is also actively involved with a community church called Transforming Lives in Christ Church in Eagle Church, Los Angeles. The 47-year-old also seems content with his personal life, raising three young kids with wife, Janelle. Heaven, his 22-year-old son with ex-wife, Geneva, also spends time with them every now and then.

These days, the artist is also fond of sharing his music, insights and a glimpse into his family life by regularly posting vlogs on his website and on his YouTube page, https://www.youtube.com/user/introvoystv.

Sherwin Ordoñez

One of GMA 7’s talented heart throbs, Sherwin was part of the popular youth-oriented show ‘Click’, ‘Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin’ opposite Angelika Panganiban, ‘Nuts Entertainment’ and the all-male Abztract Dancers with Dingdong Dantes. After a showbiz hiatus in the early 2000s, Sherwin Ordoñez took on a daring role in Joel Lamangan’s ‘I Love Dreamguyz’, doing a love scene with Joe Mapa.

Years later, Sherwin has taken on a new role as an entrepreneur. He owns TOPTAG Fashion and Scents, specializing in fragrance and apparel merchandise. A look at his Instagram also shows how business-minded he has turned out to be, selling branded shoes and watches, even personally appearing in meet-ups to deliver these products! In addition, he also runs a restaurant bar called Ewong’s Pa Rin in Harrison Street, Pasay City.

It looks like the former TV star has huge motivation for his entrepreneurial pursuits. He is now a responsible father of two teenagers, Lyza and Jam.

Of course, Sherwin still regularly hones his acting skills. According to his Facebook account, he participates in an annual theatre project in Paco Catholic School. This year, he portrayed Crisostomo Ibarra in ‘Noli me Tangere’, Isagani in ‘El Filibusterismo’, and Don Juan in ‘Ibong Adarna’.

In between his theatre and business endeavors, Sherwin is busy travelling and taking selfies, evident on his Instagram posts.

Sabrina M.

Not everyone who steps away from the glitz and glamour find paradise. Case in point: Sabrina M. She was talk of the town in the ‘90s for sexy roles in ‘Sambahin ang Puri Ko’, ‘Ma’m Turuan Mo Ako’, and ‘Aliw Masarap na Lason.’

In September 2016, Sabrina M. made headlines once more but this time, for her arrest in a buy-bust operation at her home in Quezon City. She remains behind bars in Camp Karingal and is yet to come up with P500,000 bail. In an interview with Pep, her former co-star in ‘Nag-aapoy na Langit’, Katrina Paula, described Sabrina’s pitiful situation in jail, saying that she sleeps on the floor, using cartons as her makeshift mattress. She added that Sabrina is truly remorseful of her drug involvement and is adamant on starting anew once she gets out of prison. The sexy actress also wants to see her kids badly and is even willing to work as household help once she is freed.
