Emirati vlogger Khalid Al Ameri has once again caught the attention of Filipino netizens when he dined in the renowned Philippine fast food chain, Jollibee.
Al Ameri and his wife Salama stepped in a Jollibee branch in the UAE where the latter had her first piece of Jollibee’s famous ChickenJoy.
Eating at Jollibee first sent the couple into culture shock and Salama admittedly didn’t even know how to eat rice at first.
What resonated with Filipino netizens were Al Ameri’s words when he first dined at the famous Filipino fast food.
“The thing I love the most being in this restaurant is everyone who works here, regardless of what they’re doing, whether they’re serving food, whether they’re cooking in the back whether they’re cleaning the floors. They were singing, they were smiling. They were just happy to be part of something and that something is bringing happiness and joy to the life of others,” he said.
Al Ameri said that the people and the values they impart inside a Jollibee store says a lot about the Filipino community.
“I think that’s just an extension of what the community represents and who they are as people. And they bring that to everything they do even their restaurants,” he said. “It’s been absolutely heartwarming to be here. They’ve all welcomed us with open arms and we’ll be back many, many times,” Al Ameri added.
As of press time, Al Ameri’s video has over 530,000 views, 40,000 reactions, and 1,700 shares on Facebook.
In January, Al Ameri also made headlines in the Philippines when he thanked the Filipino community in the UAE for changing his country.
