Former construction worker wins ‘Pinoy Big Brother Otso’

An aspiring teacher and former construction worker and delivery boy from Bohol won the hearts of viewers as he was declared the Big Winner of the latest edition of Pinoy Big Brother.

The 25 year-old Yamyam Gucong emerged victorious on Sunday by getting 58.52 percent of votes on the Big Night.

Gucong was part of the second batch of PBB housemates who entered the house for eight months.

“Napatunayan ko na sa aking sarili na kahit sa kahirapan, kaya nating bumangon sa buhay. Kaya nating humarap sa ano mang hamon sa buhay. Maraming maraming salamat at hindi po ako nag-iisa,” Gucong said.

Gucong was known for his funny and positive personality in the house.

“Elementary ng Grade-5, marami kaming magkakapatid. Pumunta muna ako ng city para magtrabaho. Delivery ng tubig, furniture, liha, construction worker, tinapay nagdedeliver. Almost six years akong nagtrabaho. Kung ma-educate mo ‘yung sarili mo, hindi ka tinatapakan ang.. yung dignidad mo,” Gucong said in a previous interview.

Gucong said that he once dreamed of becoming a teacher.

Kiara Takashi is second place, Lou Yanong ranks third and Andre Brouilette placed fourth.
