Bituin Escalante shared her thoughts on the trending ‘Idol Philippines’ competition.
The contest’s panel of judges Regine Velasquez, Vice Ganda, James Reid and Moira Dela Torre drew mixed reactions from netizens when they started rejecting what others thought were better talents.
“If I joined Philippine Idol, Hindi ako papasa sa judges… kay Reg lang,” Bituin said in a tweet.
She then said that it’s okay for her if she would only get the Songbird’s nod.
A video of the contestant’s audition singing, “One in a Million” is making rounds on Twitter. Vice, James and Moira were quick to say that the singer lacked emotions while singing the song.
Velasquez took a different note saying the singer’s rendition was correct because the song is not a sad but a hopeful one.
Netizens were quick to notice that it was only Regine who is more experienced and qualified to do the job as judge.
Escalante also responded to some tweets supporting her and questioning the judges’ extremely high standards.
“I can hear it nga, e. Nandon naman po yung voice but I need to see star quality,” Escalante said.
Other netizens defended the panel of judges.
“Parang ikaw lng di sobrang galing mo pero wala ka rin star quality kaya nga di ka ganon kasikat kahit noon pang bata ka, tsaka di lahat puro birit ang gusto. Iba iba ang judgement ng tao. Respeto na lng sa kanila.” one netizen said.
Escalante rose to fame by joining festival competitions. One of her hits include the song “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana.”
