Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano, popularly known as the #LizQuen love team of ABS-CBN’s Star Magic, had many fans clamoring over their Dubai and Abu Dhabi meet and greet as they came to the UAE for the first time to promote their film Alone / Together.
Antoinette Jadaone, the director of Alone / Together, commended both Enrique and Liza for their professionalism, saying that they gave their characters ‘justice’ in their portrayal. “I was really surprised when I worked in this movie because they’re (LizQuen) really young. They’re 21 and 26 but they were able to give their characters justice – like how we wrote them,” said Jadaone.
The award winning director furthers that as she worked with LizQuen for the first time, she said that the couple was also able to give their characters in the film that personalized emotion as they interpret how their character would act and show it on cam: “They’re really smart actors and when you give them instructions, they do what I say but also with their own interpretation of their characters.”
Nostalgia treat for LizQuen fans and Pinoys in UAE
Filipino expats here in the UAE will be in for a treat as apart from the kilig scenes, many of the locations and instances shot in the film can give a nice kick to their sense of nostalgia. “It can be a good cure for being homesick because if they really miss the Philippines, it really talks about their youth. (It talks about) how they were when they were younger, and how they are now that they’re older,” said Jadaone.
Jadaone is confident and optimistic that LizQuen will not only bring joy to their Filipino fans but will also catch the attention of the general expat audiences here in the UAE: “I think they’ll be proud of how Liza and Enrique has grown as actors from their first projects and first movies. Sana invite inyo rin ang mga kasama ninyo sa trabaho na hindi mga Pinoy para mas marami pang makanood ng Pinoy movies.”
Catch Alone / Together now showing across cinemas in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the UAE.
