Many netizens have been wondering if there is an ongoing rift between actress Angelica Panganiban and Ronniel de Guzman, father of actor JM de Guzman, after the two posted a series of social media posts.
Entertainment blogger Fashion Pulis collected the said posts and, based on the captions, it seems like the two are indirectly throwing shade at each other.
It all started with a post from Ronniel’s Instagram which shows a photo of JM’s grandmother.
“This is my mom. I call her ‘mommy’. She is my everything. She will turn 80 this September. Kayo po, paano niyo po tinatawag ang nanay niyo? JM calls her mom ‘mama’,” Ronniel wrote in the caption with the hashtag #respectyourparents
Ronniel followed this post by a screenshot of the Netflix action-adventure film “Okja” on his Instagram Stories.
Angelica has earlier made it known that she endearingly calls her adoptive mother “Okja”.
For her part, Angelica gave what seems like an indirect response to Ronniel’s posts, saying that she will not hold anything back if her family, especially Okja, gets involved in the tirade.
“Not my family. Not my mother. Not my Okja. Never cross that line with me. Wag ako. Pumapatol ako kapag pamilya ko nasa usapan,” Panganiban wrote on her Instagram Stories.
What added fuel to the fire was another post by Ronniel. He uploaded a photo showing JM spending some time with a group of friends, including Angelica.
In the caption, Ronniel wrote that his son is still recovering after spending two years in rehab due to drug addiction. However, he added the hashtags #maymali, #ikawnaumiwas, and #wrongcompany which led some netizens to speculate that he was referring to Angelica.
It can be recalled that Angelica and JM have become close ever since the latter returned to show business. They have previously worked together in the movie “That Thing Called Tadhana”, and they are set to collaborate again for another movie.
