Rumors about the Philippines’ Queen of All Media joining the movie adaptation of the humor-filled book “Crazy Rich Asians” have been circling around since June.
Kevin Kwan, the book’s author, finally puts the rumors to rest as he confirms in a ANC’s Headstart with Karen Davila on Friday that Kris Aquino will indeed be one of Asian stars joining the book’s Hollywood adaptation.
The author kept mum on what role the former Kapamilya actress will be playing in the film but assured fans that her appearance will be “a very special part” of the movie.
“I think audiences are going to love it,” Kwan said.
He added that he wanted a Filipino to join the cast which currently includes Michelle Yeoh, Gemma Chan, Constance Wu, and Ken Jeong.
“I wanted a Filipino in this movie. She’s Kris Aquino. She has a dynamic personality and we thought she would be perfect for this role,” Kwan added.
Filipino actor and comedian Nico Santos of the hit show “Superstore” also joins the cast of the big-screen adaptation of Kwan’s best-selling novel.
