NYC chair Aiza Seguerra serenades Marawi evacuees

Music truly comforts the soul.

National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairperson Aiza Seguerra showed solidarity with the victims of Marawi crisis through music.

The singer and former child actress visited the displaced families on Saturday in an evacuation center in the municipality of Saguiran in Lanao del Sur.

Seguerra was seen hugging and listening to the stories of the evacuees who had been forced to leave their city for their safety amid the clash between Maute forces and government troops in Marawi City.

The public official serenaded the evacuees with her rendition of Yeng Constantino’s “Hawak Kamay” and Amy Nobleza’s “Sana”.

“Sa nangyayari po, minsan nakikita natin na parang walang pag-asa, pero naniniwala po ako na hanggat may kinabukasan may pag-asa,” Seguerra said during her performance.

(With all that’s happening, sometimes we feel like there’s no hope. But I believe that as long as there’s a future, there is hope.)

Some were in tears while listening and singing along to Seguerra’s performance.

There are 191,685 individuals in Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte evacuation centers, according to the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Crisis Management Committee.

The visit was done in coordination with the ARMM Bureau of Public Information and the ARMM’s Office on the Bangsamoro Youth Affairs.
