The road to self-acceptance of her body didn’t came easy for this Malaysian-Filipina beauty.
Evita Delmundo was called “monster” and likened to a Chipsmore biscuit for being born with moles covering her face and body.
“I got bullied in primary school and the other kids would call me names like ‘Monster’ or ‘Chipsmore,’ which was really tough to swallow as a young girl. I was really timid and I shied away as I didn’t know how to deal with it at all,” she told Elle Malaysia as quoted in the report by Inquirer.
At 16, she wanted to remove the moles and birthmarks but decided against it after being warned by doctors of the medical risks involved.
Since then, the 20-year old has learned to love her body and be confident to show her uniqueness to the world.
Evita decided to audition for the Miss Universe Malaysia pageant on June 17.
“My dream is to make all girls have their own [confidence] with their own beauty,” she wrote in a comment in one of her Instagram photos.
Callbacks for the pageant are set to take place in July.
