Robin Padilla is urging for speedier resolution concerning the dire situation in Zamboanga where recent clashes between the Philippine government and members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) have led to the displacement of thousands of Filipinos.
The actor visited Zamboanga City over the weekend to make his presence felt among evacuees, most of whom are Muslims.
Padilla went on to call for unity among Filipinos, which he said could only be instrumental in forging lasting peace in the region.
He insists that the matter shouldn’t be made an issue about religion.
Padilla converted to Islam following his incarcerations some years ago due to illegal possession of firearms. He has been quite vocal in his effort to uplift his Muslim brethren that led him to sojourn in faraway Basilan and Jolo.
Prior, Padilla has put up a school for Muslim children in Quezon City.
