After earning the rage of netizens, the Angono Municipal Station issued an apology to the public regarding their anti-rape tips. The cops clarified that they only intend to remind everybody to avoid being a victim of rape.
While their apology mentioned that the reminders are for all, the police were assailed by critics because their anti-rape tips were all for women.
The tips included: do not wear short clothes, and don’t go out for drinks on a date. Some netizens commented that the post encourages rape culture by blaming the victim.
However, the post also gave practical tips such as learn self-defense, and avoid dark streets when alone.
