It seems like top-billed and soon-to-retire film director Cathy Garcia Molina is not interested in making a movie with James Reid and Nadine Lustre (JaDine) anytime soon.
In a series of Tweets, Direk Cathy aired her opinions on James and Nadine implying that the couple is difficult to work with. However, Direk Cathy’s “honest” comments drew flak from avid fans of the real-life couple.
It all started when a netizen with the Twitter handle @Pumpkin021116 asked Direk Cathy to cast JaDine for her final movie.
“Sana po sa huling movie mo, sana JaDine ang kunin niyo. Magaling po at napaka-professional. Natapos mo ang KathNiel [Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla], LizQuen [Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil]. Sana JaDine naman,” the netizen tweeted to Direk Cathy.
The director was quick to reply by saying: “Iha, talaga ba? Iba kasi ang naririnig ko galing mismo kay Direk V [Dan Villegas] at Direk Tonet [Antoinette Jadaone]. Sorry.”
Seemingly intrigued by the director’s remarks, the netizen asked Direk Cathy if she was sure about such allegations because she wouldn’t know until she has actually worked with the love team.
Direk Cathy went on by saying she knows the truth as she is good friends with directors Dan and Antoinette. She also said that she has previously worked with James on the Precious Heart Romance Presents series “Pintada”.
Still not convinced by Direk Cathy’s words, the nertizen countered that James and Nadine still starred on “On the Wings of Love”, “Till I Met You”, and “Never Not Love You”, all of which were directed by Direk Antoinette.
“Tama ka naman, iha. Iba talaga kapag nakatrabaho mo na. I will agree with you on that.
“Nako, ayaw ko na nga magsalita. Siguro si Direk [Antoinette] na lang po at Direk Dan ang inyong tangungin para hindi tsismosa ang dating ko.
“Sorry, iha kung na-offend kita. No offeense meant. I just felt you were sincere and honest with your question that it deserved an honest answer from me too,” Direk Cathy tweeted.
Other netizens stepped in
Direk Cathy’s words did not sit well with the fans of James and Nadine who called out Direk Cathy for her comments.
Direk Cathy has since apologized for publicizing the issue.
