Gretchen Barretto apologizes to niece Claudia Barretto after calling her an “ungrateful” child.
During a blogger’s conference for her first single “Stay” on June 23, Claudia avoided mentioning Gretchen when she was asked if she is ready to be compared to her aunt.
“I think we’re very different naman. Like our songs and our voice, it is different, so I don’t mind. I mean it’s nice to know that someone else actually sings,” Claudia said.
On the same day, fueled by netizens’ reactions, Gretchen reminded Claudia that she was a helping hand when she gave a “safe home for a few good years” to her niece.
A day later, the younger Barretto clarified she did not mean to be disrespectful to her aunt by addressing her as “someone else.”
Gretchen then asked for forgiveness on an Instagram post saying, “I beg for understanding and forgiveness… please allow us all to heal peacefully.”
