Riyadh: Saudi officials rushed to a mountainous village after an online video went viral, claiming a footprint-shaped mark near a construction site was that of the Prophet.
The film showed scores of Muslim Asian workers coming close to the footprint and touching it on the grounds it is blessed.
A committee comprising officials from the Islamic Affairs Ministry and other government departments flew to the site in Yanbu Al-Nakhl west of Makkah city and destroyed the footprint, according to Sabq newspapers.
“The committee urgently went to the site where some Asians mistakenly believe it is sacred. It quickly removed the footprint completely,” the paper said.
