A photo of a mother washing dishes while her child was placed inside a plastic tub (batya) went viral on social media site Facebook.
The photo, which was taken from the second floor of an apartment, was uploaded by Dexter Cainap, the landlord of Joanna Mae Andres, who was seen washing the dishes while taking care of her child.
“When I took the photo, I thought it was really hard raising a child without any help,” Cainap said.
Andres said she only put the child inside the tub so she can still perform household chores while keeping a close eye to her kid.
“It’s also for the safety of my kid. I don’t want to just leave her anywhere,” she said. “That way, I can still play and watch over the child.”
Andres’ husband, Charles, is a construction worker and usually goes home late.
Cainap admitted that he only told Andres about the photo when it already went viral on Facebook.
Because of the photo, many netizens sent help to the mother – including groceries, clothes and even a stroller.
