Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain revealed Friday 59 individuals and 12 institutions that have financed terrorist organizations and received support from Qatar, Al Arabiya local news reported.
Most of the blacklists individuals are Qataris, while the organizations are Qatari charitable organizations, a Libyan extremist group and four Bahraini groups that were listed by the country before as terrorist cells.
The revelation was made in a statement issued days after the four countries severed ties with Qatar for allegedly supporting terrorist and extremist groups in the region. Doha denied the accusations claiming it was “unjustified” and “baseless”.
The four countries reaffirmed in the statement their commitment to consolidating all efforts to combat terrorism and to relentlessly pursue the individuals and groups on the list.
The list was drawn up in light of the shared commitment of the four countries to fight terrorism and its funding sources, said a statement posted by the Bahrain News Agency.
The list is also the result of “the continued violation by the authorities in Doha of its signed commitments and agreements that included a pledge not to support or harbor elements or organizations that threatened the security of states,” it said.
Qatar ignored the repeated contacts that called it to honor the Riyadh Agreement and its executive mechanism it signed in 2013 and its 2014 complementary agreement, the statement added.
“Such attitudes put the national security of the four countries at risk as targets for acts of sabotage and chaos by members of terrorist organizations that Qatar either hosts or supports,” the statement further said.
It criticized Qatar’s “double standard policy,” saying that Qatar announces it is fighting terrorism while financing, supporting and harboring various terrorist organizations. (PNA/Xinhua)
