67-year-old Pinay athlete brings home 4 gold from Singapore tourney

Erlinda Lavandia, touted the “Queen of Philippine Javelin,” took home four gold medals from the recent Singapore Masters Athletics 40th Anniversary Track and Field 2019.

The 67-year-old athlete beat athletes from 13 countries for the track and field sports javelin throw, discus throw, hammer throw, and shot put event, according to an ABS-CBN news report.

Lavandia was also honored as the “Best Athlete of Field Events” in Southeast Asia.

Lavandia currently serves as a consultant at the Philippine Sports Commission.

The athlete is set to compete once again as the Philippine representative to the Asian Masters Athletics to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in November. (Photo: PhilStar)
