The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced on May 17 that paper parking tickets are no longer required to be displayed on the vehicle’s windshield starting May 18.
In its announcement, RTA said the parking machines have been updated to include an interactive touch screen.
“No paper parking tickets on the vehicle’s windshield after today. The parking machines are updated to include an interactive touch screen, allowing the customer to enter the vehicle’s information and obtain an e-ticket, saving time and effort,” it said in its Twitter post.
The installation of the interactive parking meters will begin in the first quarter of 2020 until the end of 2022.
Earlier this year, the Dubai Media Office announced RTA’s interactive parking meters as part of its efforts to transform Dubai into a smart city.

In an earlier statement, RTA said that the initiative meets the growing demand for smart technology to eliminate hassle in issuing parking tickets.
