The Philippines is considering to expand its temporary travel ban due to novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV ARD) to Taiwan, reported GMA News.
Health Undersecretary Gerardo Bayugo said the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases in the Philippines said Monday that they are discussing the expansion of the travel ban to Taiwan.
“It’s not yet agreed or final. it will still be subjected to a discussion and agreement among the member agencies of the inter-agency task force,” Bayugo said at a news conference in Malacañang.
The island nation has reported 18 confirmed cases of novel coronavirus.
The government earlier temporarily banned the entry of foreigners who had travel history to mainland China and its special administrative regions Macau and Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, Filipino nationals and Philippine permanent resident visa holders can enter the country, but they are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine.
There are around 120,000 documented overseas Filipino workers Taiwan, according to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.
