A court in Ras Al Khaimah ordered a girl from another Gulf country to pay Dh10,000 damages to a local man after she was found guilty of filming him and publishing his pictures online without his knowledge.
The girl was also reprimanded by the judge for making false accusations that she filmed the man because he tried to molest her.
The man told court that he does not know the girl and that she kept chasing him at a shopping mall and taking shots of him.
He said that he was surprised later when he saw his photographs on WhatsApp network and offending comments written by the girl.
“Security cameras showed that the girl was following the man wherever he goes and taking shots of him with her mobile phone… she said she was doing so because he tried to molest her but court found no evidence the man did so,” the Arabic language daily Emarat Alyoum said.
