President Rodrigo Duterte has revealed that his health is deteriorating. He however clarified that he can still perform his tasks as chief executive.
Duterte said his health was not as it used to be and age has begun to take its toll on him.
“My health is deteriorating. Every time you ask it, additional, there’s additional affliction,” Duterte said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
He added that he has a number of health concerns, but nothing is serious enough for the country to be concerned about.
“‘Wag mo akong tanungin. if I am in the best or in the pink of health. I am not. Meron akong mga ano sa katawan. May kagat ako sa lamok, akala ko dengue hindi naman pala. Nakaapak ako ng thumbtacks akala ko na tetanus ako, wala naman palang ano (I have issues all over. I was once bitten by a mosquito, I thought I’d have dengue but I didn’t. I stepped on a thumbtack, I thought I’d get tetanus but I didn’t. It’s nothing),” Duterte added.
“You did not get anything. Actually for purposes of performing, my functions as President, I’m alright,” he said.
Malacañang said that the President remains fit to perform his duties although age-related health concerns come from time to time.
“Which is kung ano yung sakit ng mga matatanda sa edad niya sickness a man his age was experiencing), ordinarily he has that,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
