UAE launches Dubai-Sharjah ferry service

The Road and Transport Authority (RTA) Dubai has announced on Saturday the launch of a ferry service between Dubai and Sharjah, which is set to serve 1.3 million (subject to increase) riders annually.

In a report by Khaleej Times, the line will take passengers to and from Al Ghubaiba Marine Station in Dubai and Aquarium Marine Station in Sharjah. The service, which will operate 42 journeys in total, is part of RTA’s plan to provide transit convenience between the two emirates.

The fare will be available at Dh15 in Silver Class and Dh25 in Gold Class, and is free for people of determination and kids below five years old.

The journey of the new line will take about 35 minutes, and will be available every 30 minutes during peak periods—5am to 9am during mornings and 4pm to 8:30pm during evenings from Saturday to Sunday—and one and a half hours during off-peak periods. From Dubai, the first ride starts at 5:15am, while the last one leaves at 8pm. From Sharjah, the first journey leaves at 5am, while the last one departs at 7:30pm.

The new service will also offer riders free WiFi, free parking, and internal shuttle service Sharjah Aquarium Marine Station.
