A magnitude 5.9 earthquake jolted Bohol province early Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake struck at 12:59 a.m. at a depth of 551 kilometers southeast of Lila town.
Intensity 1 was recorded in Borongan City in Eastern Samar.
The quake occurred when most residents were asleep.
Resident Romeo Balandra, 43, said he didn’t feel the quake.

But Jolina Payot, 15, said she felt the ground was swaying. She slept late since she was nursing a fever.
“It was not strong but I felt the ground was swaying,” she said.
She said the quake struck very quickly, with a few of the foreshocks that often accompany quakes of this magnitude.
Local officials said there were no reported damages.
Residents living in the area have been warned of possible aftershocks.
