Go files senate bill creating ‘OFW Department’

Senator Bong Go laid down his legislative agenda in the 18th Congress.

He personally filed his first ten bills and his priority was to establish for more ‘malasakit centers’ which will give Filipinos easy access to healthcare services.

Next in Go’s priority is the creation of a Department of Overseas Filipinos.

The Overseas Filipino department will be a one stop shop for the needs of our OFWs.

“The department will be providing legal assistance for OFWs in distress; to arrange a full migration cycle approach in promoting migrant’s rights from pre-employment as well as on site and reintegration services; and to launch a shared database system that contains important information of all OFWs to aid in tracking their status and fast track delivery of assistance especially to distressed workers,” he added.

A Senate resolution has also been filed to form a committee that will handle legislative concerns for overseas employment and migrant workers.
